Case Study
Ashly Varghese/ Octable Techlabs ANZ PTY LTD

Project Size:
100kW Rooftop Solar
Inspired by a strong sense of pioneering and a passion for sustainable growth, Octable Techlabs ANZ PTY LTD, headed by Ashly Varghese, decided to take action and seek out renewable energy for their NSW office. The goal was straightforward: pare down the electricity bill, show off environmental credentials, and position themselves as a role model for the new breed of tech companies looking for long-term energy solutions.
AYKA Solar assisted the company to perfect a 6.6kW rooftop solar system to suit their daytime electricity for worry-free solar. The system now provides clean power for offices, servers, workstations, and lighting and has a much-reduced impact on both overheads and the business’s carbon footprint.
Key Project Stats
26kWh in daily generation
80% self-sufficiency overall
Solar-powered office electronics and IT infrastructure
OBJECTIVES
As a progressive tech company, Octable Techlabs wanted to walk the talk and align its operations with its ethos — efficient, sustainable and innovative. They wanted to reduce escalating electricity costs, achieve higher energy independence and reduce their environmental footprint, while maintaining a regular business day.
The project was also viewed as an opportunity to highlight corporate responsibility and to incorporate green thinking into their business image.
SOLUTION
AYKA Solar customised and installed an office-specific 6.6kW rooftop solar system. The system was designed to still achieve maximum output during working hours, as there was limited roof space with high-efficiency panels and a smart inverter configuration used to achieve this.
The installation came with live performance monitoring utilities, letting the unit see at a glance the energy production and savings. The system’s silent operation and efficient energy production mean top-up at no extra cost to the business on IT infrastructure or workflow.
“For us, solar wasn’t only about saving on power, but about leading with innovation while also doing the right thing for our environment.”
Ashly Varghese, Director

CHALLENGES
With a limited roof area and such delicate IT equipment in operation during the daytime, there was a huge need to deliver a system that would not detract from any activity in the office, but still yield a high output. AYKA Solar took responsibility for the installation when traffic was minimal and made certain all electrical integration was smooth and safe.
But careful planning and technical precision made it possible to get a high-performance system in a relatively small area of space, maximising every square inch and every ray of sunlight.
THE FUTURE
Having successfully installed, Octable Techlabs is now:
🔋 Researching more energy-efficient additions to their offices
📈 Monitoring real-time solar savings to help plan for future sustainability initiatives
♻️ Highlighting their clean energy effort on client and stakeholder communication

“Switching to solar has allowed us to save money, save the environment and not compromise anything. It’s good for our business and the planet.”
Ashly Varghese, Director
