In a fantastic development for Victorians, the Victorian Government has announced a $38 million budget allocation for electric hot water rebates. This initiative is not just about encouraging households and businesses to replace outdated, inefficient hot water systems with modern, energy-efficient, eco-friendly models. It’s a significant move towards enhancing energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The 2024\u201325 Victorian Budget allocates $37.7 million to provide 35,000 rebates for energy-efficient electric hot water systems and an additional $6 million for interest-free solar battery and storage loans. This budget allocation is a step forward for Victoria’s journey towards a greener future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Victorian government has provided over $624 million in rebates since 2018, resulting in over 257,000 rooftop solar systems and 19,000 energy-efficient hot water systems. When combined with rooftop solar, these rebates have saved households up to $400 a year on electricity bills. These systems not only contribute to a more sustainable environment but also aid in lowering energy usage and cutting utility costs for consumers. The Victorian Government is investing $5.9 million to improve the Victorian Energy Upgrades program and $8.7 million into the Energy Compare website. The Victorian Government plans to invest $3.4 million in the Energy Assistance Program, a free service designed to help struggling energy consumers navigate the energy market, apply for grants and concessions, find better offers, and address billing errors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victorian Minister Lily D’Ambrosio announced discounts for energy-efficient hot water, potentially saving families up to $400 annually and $1,000 off installation costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
