A ground breaking Mobile Floating Solar Power plant has been installed to supply the renewable Energy to Paris Olympic Village This 78 kW temporary PV solar installation was transported 900 meters along the Seine River and anchored at the Athletes’ Village. The plant, which covers 470 square meters, can power the equivalent of 94 apartments.
Developed by EDF ENR, This PV Solar Power plant operates Entirely on Self-consumption by adjusting its Real-Time Electricity output to match the demand of the Site without connecting to the grid. This innovative setup allows for instant assembly and disassembly, offering a flexible and versatile option compared to traditional generators for large events and remote locations in Paris. The plant Component stored in a Shipping Container enables the PV Solar systems to be fully operational within 24 Hours.
Franck Chauveau, director of major project development for EDF in Île-de-France, highlighted the novelty of Transporting the PV Solar Power Plant by River despite the Short Distance. This is the first time in the world that we have transported a PV solar plant. This innovative approach showcases the Potential for the Similar setups to deliver the clean energy for the Local Events, Trade fairs and for another Temporary use. It Demonstrates How Floating Solar PV installation can be a practical and sustainable energy solution for various applications.
The French Navigation Authority Voies Navigables de France (VNF) has shown interest in the technology used in the construction sites along Riverbanks; this initiative is part of a larger step towards renewable energy solutions and reducing dependency on conventional power sources. This Project showcases the potential of the Floating Solar Plant as a sustainable and practical energy alternative for Various Applications and highlighting their versatility in Providing Temporary and Site-specific energy needs.
