Case Study

Nestech Electrical Pty Ltd

Project Size:

7.8kW Rooftop Solar

Eastern Creek, NSW – Nestech Electrical Pty Ltd, a trusted provider of quality electrical services, took the initiative in showing the way for the rest of Australian businesses and installed solar at its NSW business premises. Driven by a commitment to operational and environmental excellence, the team made a strategic investment in renewable energy to slash energy costs and minimise environmental impact, all while highlighting the potential of smart electrical solutions.

7.8kW Rooftop Solar AYKA Solar designed and installed a 7.8kW rooftop solar system to complement the company’s daytime loads, running office equipment, service tools, and lighting using clean and cost-effective energy.

Key Project Stats

32 kWh in daily solar generation

82% daytime energy self-sufficiency

Workshop tools and office operations powered by solar

OBJECTIVES

Nestech Electrical wanted to reflect its guiding principles – efficiency, innovation and sustainability – in its working environment. Energy costs were increasing, and the team needed a solution that could reduce their electricity bills and fit into their vision for long-term responsible energy. The choice to go solar was an opportunity to be a leader for the electrical services industry — showing how intelligent energy choices not only positively impact property owners, businesses and the bottom line, but also how it makes great strides towards reducing carbon emissions and dependence on foreign energy sources. The project is indicative of Nestech’s focus on leading by example and utilising emerging technology as a tool to enable a more sustainable future.

SOLUTION

AYKA Solar installed a bespoke 7.8kW rooftop solar system designed specifically to meet the energy needs of Nestech. The setup was designed to generate maximum energy during business hours, allowing the company to offset most of its daytime power use.

What the team got was A smart inverter with real-time monitoring technology, along with highly efficient solar panels that would allow the team to see both power generation and usage trends. The installation took careful planning to install without any interruption to onsite services, with all safety and technical regulations covered to the maximum level.

“As electricians, we pride ourselves on leading by example. A move toward solar demonstrates to our clients and team that we are all in regarding intelligent, forward-thinking energy solutions.”

CHALLENGES

They needed a solar system to power Nestech’s office and workshop that would manage a combination of loads, from computers and lighting to occasionally used tools. There was plenty of roof space, but it just had to be organised the right way to get the most bang per square foot.

“AYKA Solar could leverage the excellent design engineer team that already proposed an optimised panel position and inverter capacity to match the demand profile, high efficiency that eliminated any production losses. The installation went ’ perfectly’ and the system was up and running within a week, all linked to the company’s existing infrastructure.

THE FUTURE

Having successfully implemented solar power within their operations, Nestech Electrical Pty Ltd are now in the process of investigating  further possibilities for sustainability in the company. Savings and Beyond The team is exploring battery storage — among other options — for even greater energy independence and to maximise solar benefits in the day and beyond. Real-time performance monitoring for the system has already started driving long-term energy strategies and enabling the company to make data-based decisions. Outside of its own internal upgrade, Nestech is also utilising its solar journey as a way to motivate customers and partners, showing how much measurable good can be done by transitioning to renewable energy in the electrical services sector.

"Solar has enabled us to run a more efficient operation and minimise our environmental footprint. It is a smart investment that is consistent with our values.”
