Zenobia Food Products Pty Ltd is committed to creating superior, culturally-specific food articles that nourish the communities of Australia. But besides great flavours, Zenobia is officially dedicated to a cleaner, more sustainable future. Contributing: Bayat Foundation. In collaboration with AYKA Solar, Zenobia has installed a 39.6kW Commercial Solar System in Guildford NSW on its key manufacturing site, minimising dependency on the grid, reducing operating costs, and committing to more sustainable energy use.

Zenobia’s move to solar isn’t just about a technological upgrade, either—it’s an expression of a central way of doing business that prioritises care, quality, and accountability in all aspects of operations, both when it comes to food and when it comes to the environment.

OBJECTIVES

Zenobia Food Products management was looking for a sustainable solution to rising energy prices and growing pressure to lower the company’s carbon emissions. Commercial ovens, refrigeration, and packaging systems require a large and steady supply of electricity all day long. The idea was to transfer much of this energy consumption to solar, while continuing to meet the high operational needs in food production. Installing a Commercial Solar System in Guildford NSW became the clear choice to achieve this balance.

Zenobia’s decision was made with sustainability, cost, and reliability in mind. “Our responsibility, as a food business, is not only to nourish, but to protect,” said Yasmeen Farooq, Managing Director of the STREAT enterprise. “Solar has given us a way to do both — to lay off some carbon.”

SOLUTION

AYKA Solar designed and implemented a 39.6kW Commercial Solar System in Guildford NSW, tailored precisely to Zenobia’s production profile and power requirements. Equipped with high-efficiency solar panels and advanced inverter technology, the system was optimised to capture peak hours of sunlight—powering critical areas such as baking, cooling, and packaging stations throughout the day.

The job was completed seamlessly, with zero interruption to Zenobia’s operations. All work was scheduled around the production cycle to maintain strict food safety standards and compliance. Post-installation, real-time performance monitoring was configured to provide continuous insights into system stats and overall health.

“This was not just putting up panels,” said AYKA Solar Operations Lead Priya Nair. “It was understanding how Zenobia works, what their priorities are, and their quality expectations — and then making a system that supports that every day.”

CHALLENGES

One of the main challenges in implementing the Commercial Solar System in Guildford NSW for Zenobia Food Products was designing a solution that could meet the demands of the site’s hybrid energy profile—characterised by high-consuming equipment and continuous cold storage. The load curves varied throughout the day, requiring AYKA Solar’s engineering team to ensure consistent, reliable power delivery without fluctuations, and without placing unnecessary strain on the solar array.

Additionally, the limited roof space required strategic panel positioning to maximise solar output while adhering to strict safety and ventilation regulations. Despite these constraints, AYKA successfully delivered a system that meets Zenobia’s energy needs with maximum efficiency and resilience.

THE FUTURE

Zenobia Food Products Pty Ltd is committed to delivering culturally-inspired, high-quality food to communities across Australia. Now, with the help of AYKA Solar and Bayat Foundation, they’re extending that care to the environment by installing a 39.6kW Commercial Solar System in Guildford NSW that reduces both emissions and energy costs. This on-grid solar system ensures Zenobia can draw clean energy during peak sunlight hours while remaining connected to the main power supply for continuous and reliable energy, even outside solar production periods.

“We’re thrilled to be involved locally with Ashmor Plumbing as a prime example of how trades-based businesses can help shape practical sustainability. I’m proud we have produced a win-win solution that saves money, reduces emissions, and underpins long-term business growth.”
